 Mexico!

Making contacts and eating Menudo

Hey! So this week has been pretty good but pretty rough. I’m so jealous you guys saw the Zookeeper! I wanted to see that... also the Office Marathon... We will definitely go to Havasupai when I get back. Ha I enjoyed the joke about the blonde as well ha-ha. So that's exciting mom is getting all of her school stuff going. I miss all you guys so much especially the USA. I have always been told that a mission was the hardest thing you can do. I never knew how hard until I got here in Mexico. Because both my companion and I are new to this area, there is only one kind of work to do. Contact. Contact people on the street, contact people at the door, obtain referencias. It is so mentally draining especially since it’s in Spanish. Father, you said that the brother said that people in the North don’t finish their words. How true is that! I can’t understand a word. Everyone mumbles, and only says half the word. I was trying to explain this to my companion, but he doesn’t think so.

So we have 2 progressive investigators. Francisco (Paco), and Lidia. They both like what they hear and they both read the Book of Mormon, but they won’t pray about it and they won’t accept baptism until they know more and a bunch of other stuff. We have 2 baptism dates set for Jose (15) and his little brother (10) for the 28 of August. Like I said there isn’t much work but contacting people. No one understands me, I can’t understand them, and it’s very frustrating. I can’t understand my companion. When we teach he talks basically the whole time. Mexico is a hard place to live. Our house has tons of cockroaches and spiders and other bugs. The only air we have is fans. It’s just really hard. I don’t know if I told you last week, but I have rashes all over my arms, I got sun burned really bad, and my bike broke. Ha-ha it’s like everything bad that can happen, is happening. It’s kinda amusing. I just know that after my mission, I’ll be blessed like crazy. I was told the harder the mission, the bigger the blessings. But I tell you what from what I have seen the USA Elders have it pretty good. I also have something on my back like a rash/burn/chafe that really hurts. But I’m enduring. I’m still breathing so that’s good. There is this meat here called Trumpo and it is great. It is like this big triangle meat on a rod with a pineapple at the bottom and they have these big things cooking it. They slice the meat off right onto the tortilla. OH! I had Menudo the other day. I threw up. The lady that gave it to me videotaped it and took pictures and laughed her face off. It’s my comps favorite... Once she sends me the video I’ll send it to you. It takes forever to upload pictures. It has taken about 45 minutes for these 7 pictures to upload. Well I don’t know much more to say. On Wed, Thursday, Friday and Saturday I’ll be in Monterrey doing stuff for my visa and my comp in District Leader and he has training. So I’m excited for that. I miss you all like crazy and when I get back, it’s party time! I love you and I’m very grateful for your prayers and thoughts. They really help me get through all the stuff that’s happening. Stay safe and I will write again next Monday! Love you all!

Love,
Elder Stark
