Off to Mexico!

F.Y.I. Joseph will be leaving for Mexico on Monday, Aug. 1st.

Hola Mi Familia!

So I’m glad you guys sent me mail for the first time in 2.5 weeks! J/k, but seriously... >:l Anyways I’m glad you guys told me about the phone being turned off. I would have called the house phone. I don’t know when I'll be calling because I don’t know when I'll have time. I’m sure I’ll call in the morning at around 7 Utah time or so because I get to the travel office at 5, probably leave at 5:30 for the airport, get there around 6:30, and have to go through security and all that stuff then we leave at 8:15. Then we land in Texas at about 11:55 Texas time then we leave at about 2 so I might call both times. I have been thinking about it as I finished my last things and I will miss the MTC, but I am so ready to get out of here. Cassie and John can’t meet me because we don’t leave the security gate I believe and it’s not really allowed. I am so jealous that you got to talk to Jacob Mom. How does he sound? How is he doing? Did you take Dad to Kaylea's cabin with you? I am so excited to see who the new Bishopric is! It’s really sad to see Bishop Hale leave. He was way awesome. My email address is joseph.stark@myldsmail.net so I don’t know why it didn’t send anything. Just reply to the email address I send my emails from. I did receive your package! I was stoked! Becca has all my pictures and videos now so have her send them to you or make a disk or something. I love the seeds father! They keep me busy. I am missing your cooking because we can’t leave to go to Taco Bell or KFC so I miss it... :( hahahahaha We are all super excited to get to the airport because we are going to stuff our faces with real food for once! It’s going to be glorious!

OK! So this week has been kinda depressing because it’s been my last for a lot of things. On Friday, we practiced a song we sang for church on Sunday. It sounds good. I have never sung before, but I have a duet with another Elder. I sent a video to Becca, but it sounds bad because of the sound quality. It sounds good for real though.

Saturday, our really tough investigator Iñaki agreed to get baptized on August 15, 2011! A crappy thing was that I rolled my ankle playing volleyball. I was pretty pissed because I told the Elder about 5 times before to stay on his side of the net and the 6th time, he came under about 3 feet when I went up to hit the ball and landed on him. It didn’t feel very good. It’s better now though.

Sunday was pretty good/sad. We sang "Mas Cerca Dios de Ti" during sacrament. During sacrament, we found out that President Evans was being released. It was sad. He was way awesome! For the devotional, we watched the "Home Front Videos" or the Mormon commercials and they were hilarious. So old school. We also watched the movie "Legacy" in Spanish. It threw me off. I got kind of used to it after about 10 minutes though.

Monday was way sweet! It was our last day with Hno. Awerkamp. It was sad because he is was sweet and super fly. The way sweet thing was we called a girl from him mission is Spain. He got her on speakerphone. It was sweet because we were teaching Iñaki, but he was really a girl named Roxanna or Roxy. That’s who we talked to. She didn’t speak English and she was on the phone so it was way hard to hear, but we talked to someone in Spain! It was crazy. I feel confident about my Spanish until I talk to a Native... Then I get shut down.

Tuesday was our last day teaching in the TRC. We didn’t even teach. There were no volunteers so we were the investigators for the new district. It was cool. We sang in choir again this week and we sang "Come, come, ye saints" and it sounded good. We were taught by Elder Dennis E Simmions from the Emeritus 70. He talked about how the mission is going to be hard. It was good though.

On Wednesday we hosted again. It was fun. I had another native Spanish speaker. It was hard. I also hosted 2 Sisters from Hong Kong and Mongolia. It was hard to understand them ha-ha. My companion and I taught part of our class tonight and it was fun. We taught about how our investigators need to trust us and have faith and all that good stuff. We had the guppy of our group do the "Faith Fall". It was hilarious. He stepped off the chair and sat in our hands. I made him get back on the chair and he was turned around and talking and taking forever so I grabbed his shirt and pulled him down. It was hilarious. He said he crapped his pants.
On Thursday, it was our last GYM time. We finished teaching our investigators Pablo and Ricardo who both committed to baptism. We also dropped our investigator Juan. He wasn’t progressing. When we dropped him he was understanding and everything was good. At the end, Hno. Romney told us we did an awesome job at teaching him and that we did great at dropping him.
Yesterday, we went to an In-Field Orientation. All day, we learned about the field and we did all these activities like building a boat with chairs and tables and all this stuff. It was pretty fun and a relaxing day.
Well the next email you will get from me will be from Mexico. I am so excited! Way nervous though. I don’t know what to expect. I am grateful for all that you guys have done for me. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. I will miss you guys and Taco Bell. I hope all is well! I love you and see ya sooner than you think! HLJ! Haz Lo Justo! Le amo! Stay strong! Go to church mom! MUAH!

Love,
Elder Stark (the best son/brother)
